BIO
My name is Nathaniel
Pope, the soul peon behind ludogrind. Born in San Diego,
California, I graduated from La Costa Canyon
High School in 2003 and am currenly completing a bachelors degree
at the University
of California,
Irvine, double majoring in economics
and
film and media studies. Somewhere along the way, I picked up a French
minor. C'était un invitation au voyage: in 2006, I studied the
French film industry in Bordeaux and Paris and ever since returning I
have been tumbling down the synthetic rabbit hole, only to hit the
desert of the real time and time again. This past summer, I was a SURF-IT
fellow at the California
Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology
(Calit2)
and continue to research the economics and culture of online games and
their impact
on society under the tutelage of Professor Peter
Krapp. Yet all ludogrind and no work leads to quite empty pockets.
So I have worked my passion at the Teaching
Learning and Technology Center and increased some Pizza Nova rep,
completing
delivery quests more fun than any turtle escort in Azeroth. As an
athlete, I play
for the ACHA and PCHA sanctioned UCI Ice Hockey
team.
